HAPPENINGS AT ARROWLEAF

Shopkeeper & Merchandising Lead

Arrowleaf is a modern boutique in the heart of White Salmon featuring locally handcrafted jewelry, artwork, and intentionally made adornments for home and body. We curate beautiful, meaningful objects that celebrate craftsmanship and sustainability.

We’re looking for a Shop Keeper & Merchandising Lead who can blend authentic customer engagement with behind-the-scenes organization and a well-kept space.

The ideal candidate is a natural conversationalist who has a strong attention to detail and ease with technology.

If you enjoy connecting with people as much as keeping things in order, we’d love to meet you.

Core Responsibilities

1. Sales & Customer Experience

  • Create an engaging, personable, and splurge-worthy shopping experience that feels personal and genuine.

  • Build authentic relationships that encourage repeat visits, mailing list signups, and referrals.

  • Friendly, personable demeanor, offering thoughtful product suggestions that fit each customer’s taste and story; never pushy, always genuine.

  • Demonstrate confidence and curiosity in learning about each product’s origin, craftsmanship, and value.

  • Represent the brand with warmth, curiosity, and professionalism.

2. Merchandising & Store Maintenance

  • Maintain visual and spatial order including cleanliness, product display, and stock readiness.

  • Assist in curating displays with an eye for balance, color, and flow, adjusting seasonally or as new products arrive.

  • Keep the space photo-ready at all times, clean, organized, and inviting.

3. Inventory & Product Management

  • Track product performance, maintain accurate inventory counts, flag issues before they become problems, and keep shelves stocked and organized.

  • Assist with reorders, markdowns, and sell-through analysis.

  • Approach organization using systems to support beauty, flow, and efficiency.

  • Coordinate and assist in planning sales events to move seasonal inventory strategically.

4. Administrative & Operational Support

  • Complete administrative tasks accurately and on time.

  • Manage the Square POS system thoroughly, including inventory, exchanges, refunds, gift cards, and partial payments.

  • Communicate proactively about inventory levels, customer trends, or process improvements.

  • Work structured hours that include both public-facing and closed-door time for uninterrupted admin and merchandising work.

  • Manage time well between customer-facing and operational work blocks and plan time off in advance to ensure coverage and consistency.

Bonus Skill (not required)

Digital & Marketing Support

  • Confidently manage light digital tasks: posting to social media, updating online listings, and tracking engagement.

  • Help select products to feature on social media and coordinate timing of posts.

  • Maintain and grow the mailing list; track engagement and connect digital activity to in-store sales.

  • Partner with leadership to plan simple marketing moments and featured collections.

Needed Qualities to Thrive

  • People-person who listens well, connects easily, and sells authentically.

  • Naturally organized with strong follow-through and attention to detail.

  • Tech-competent: comfortable with POS, spreadsheets, and light digital content tools.

  • Appreciation for art, craft, and storytelling through objects.

  • Is a do-er: independent and self-motivated, yet team-oriented.

Pay & Structure

  • Part time: 18-25 hours a week with potential for full time if wanted.

  • Hourly range: Up to $20/hr with potential for growth; small performance bonuses tied to sales upon 90-day review

  • Schedule: Thursday through Sat 11:00am-6pm plus Sunday 12-4pm

KEEP IT WILD • Art • Community • Conservation

Join us at Arrowleaf on Friday, May 8th | 5–7PM for the opening of our annual KEEP IT WILD show.

A wall of original 6x6 artworks by local artists—each one $100.
At 5PM the bell rings, and the sale begins.

As pieces are collected, the wall shifts—new work revealed as others disappear. A living installation, changing in real time.

This year, we’re proud to partner with Columbia Land Trust, with a portion of every sale supporting conservation in the Columbia River Gorge.

Come early, find something you love, and take a piece of the wild home.
